Project Objective

To encourage the development of Entrepreneurial skills in partner schools, linking with existing curriculum topics and providing practical, real life scenarios and experiences for learners.

About the project

The Township Business project ran for the second time in 2023. This project sees students from the UWE Bristol Business School deliver a young enterprise scheme at Phendukani High School. Pupils are led through a series of business planning workshops including product design, marketing, finances and sales, after which they form small businesses and sell products to other members of the school community. Winning businesses are awarded the Project Zulu Business of the year award.

Self-starting, entrepreneurship and money management are high priorities for young people growing up in 21st century South Africa. The aim of this project is to inspire and develop business acumen among these township pupils who may become the business owners and employers of the future.
