About the School

Principal: Mrs Mthembu

Sithobelumthetho Primary School is where Project Zulu started. We have been working together since 1996, when Dr Ben Knight, Project Zulu Founder and Director, first visited the Madadeni Township. The school has over 800 learners enrolled across Grades R-7, aged 4-13 years.

Using funds raised through the 2013 Choir Tour, Sithobelumthetho installed 53 solar panels, helping to significantly reduce the school's electricity bills. Funds raised through the 2025 Choir Tour will be invested in further expanding the school's solar infrastructure and improving long-term sustainability.

Funds raised through the 2015 Choir Tour, along with support from UWE Bristol and The ATLAS Foundation, enabled the school to transform an unused area of land into a secure school sports field. Completed in August 2021, the field is used by the school for Physical Education lessons, school sports clubs and tournaments. It is also home to the local men's rugby team, the Madadeni Bears, and is available for community sports clubs to hire.

We are proud to continue the partnership that began at Sithobelumthetho Primary School thirty years ago and to support the school as it continues to invest in opportunities for its learners.
