About the Tour

In May 2018 Project Zulu commenced their fourth UK Choir Tour. Umcebowolwazi Primary joined with Siyawela Primary to form the choir made up of 20 children. The choir began their rehearsals almost a year ahead of their touring dates with thanks to choir master, Mr Phakathi and his assistant Mr Zungu, who spent their time afterschool working with the children and also with thanks to the supporting teachers who transported the children to their rehearsals.

The choir were busy from the moment they landed, touring the UK performing in concert venues, busking in cities and visiting UK schools as well as recording the 2018 Choir Tour album. They wowed audiences from Bristol to London and enjoyed some much deserved time off including their first ever dip in the sea in West Wales.

All funds raised from the tour were split equally between the two schools.

Umcebowolwazi Primary used their funds to secure their IT classroom that had previously been subject to break-ins and needed new security features prior to installing any future equipment.

Siyawela Primary are using their funds to build two new classrooms for their Grade R pupils whose existing buildings are no longer safe for use and need replacing.
